Expressing happiness, ease and gratitude through laughter

Having mastered some relationally challenging situations especially on the second day of their encounter, which participants mainly put down to external factors such as examination stress and serious discussion topics, many students are seen to truly enjoy their interactions in the second half of the week, which for example finds explicit expression in the short extract (74). HGf’s statement “that was fun today” (l. 482) is confirmed (l. 483) and elaborated (l. 485) by her interlocutor. The resulting interpersonally constructed frame is filled with joint laughter (l. 483–484).
